stone cold
shut off from the world
scared of what may happen
show yourself 
your true self
and see how your life changes
color springs from the ground
red petals emerge from the cold soul
softness, beauty, life, appear
making way for someone to
become
who they were afraid to be-
themselves

Vulnerable Vase

precious
valuable
placed out of reach of others
only those special enough will receive it
when they do, when its placed right
in front of them they take
advantage
making up for lost time being
shoved away
the vase now broken
shards on the floor
but not, put back together
stronger than ever vowing to never show that side again

Precious Pearls

on a string
one wrong tug
it could all end
life, precious for all
some don't value it
some don't care
some, all they want to do is share
what they have, what they know, what they feel
letting others know and realize that they are real
people, not robots or objects
with feelings, emotions and faults
with help, people can develop into great people
each pearl coming together to form a circle
held together by a string, relying on each other
we need each other to get there
delicate thread holds us tight
make one right or wrong move, it might
end or begin a new sequence of life

lying

to say that i don't care would be lying
when there's hurt, anger, and confusion inside
you played with my heart as if it were a toy
leaving me guessing what you felt every time
i feel like i've lost that one special friend
someone who i told my whole life story to
my deepest secrets, my fears and dreams
it feels as if you ripped my heart out of my body
leaving an open wound for the world to see
one that just won't seem to heal
communication is the key to life's relationships
one unsaid word could ruin it completely
you now leave me betrayed, upset and confused

patience
it takes time to get what one wants
one has to believe and know it will happen
it will not happen overnight
if you want the right and real things, you must not rush them

persistence
keep at it
if one gives up, what is the point of all they did
keep up what one does even when there are tough times and one
will feel accomplished in the end

pressure
some say many perform best under pressure
pressure forces one to perform at their highest 
level in order to do their best
pressure creates a diamond
out of your toughest moments, the best things can be produced

dreaming with eyes open
